Powerlifting Approval
Colombo, Sri Lanka - For the first time in history, South Asia will host the prestigious World
Powerlifting Championship'25, with Sri Lanka - the pearl of the Indian Ocean - being chosen
as the destination. This landmark event will take place from 28th to 30th November 2025 at the
world-class Vivanta Colombo, Airport Garden Hotel, located at 234-238, Negombo Road,
Seeduwa, Sri Lanka.
Organized by World Powerlifting Lanka, this championship is officially sanctioned by World
Powerlifting and proudly endorsed by the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, highlighting
the country's growing reputation as a hub for international sporting events.
International Participation & Growth
Over 10 countries are expected to participate, with more than 250 elite powerlifters showcasing
their strength and resilience across various categories. This championship promises to bring the
global powerlifting community together, celebrating unity, sportsmanship, and physical excellence

Eligibility
Championships open to lifters in teams nominated by World Powerlifting member federations and
individual lifters from other nations as approved by the World Powerlifting Board.
Anti- Doping
In-competition testing will be conducted by the Sri Lanka WADA recognized National Anti-
Doping Organization. All World Powerlifting athletes are subject to out-of-competition testing at
any time.
Equipment
World Powerlifting approved, Samtekrack, bars, discs on stage.
Awards
Event medals will be presented at victory ceremonies after cach session.
